The Department of Health NI has said the Covid-19 vaccine remains voluntary amongst care home staff in Northern Ireland.
It comes after the Derry News revealed that three out of ten care home workers have turned down the Covid vaccine in the Western Trust area – numbers reflected across NI.
Care home residents and staff were amongst the first priority group in the North.
It has emerged that a number of major care home operators in the UK have insisted that all current staff be vaccinated and advised any new staff, ‘no jab, no job’. ....

ISLAMABAD:  The  Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood on Tuesday said that the bill submitted in the National Assembly to make the Arabic language compulsory in Islamabad schools will be sent to the NA s standing committee for review before passing it. 
According to a report by
Geo.tv, the minister clarified that Quranic teachings are already imparted across all Pakistan schools,  adding that the decision to teach classical Arabic as opposed to conventional Arabic in school had also been under consideration for some time. ....

Int'l Mother Language Day: Govt urged to declare Pashto as compulsory subject in KP schools

NOWSHERA: Writers and poets on Sunday urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to declare Pashto as an official language in offices of government departments and a compulsory subject in schools from class one to Matric level.
The demand was made at a march organised by the Gandhara Pashto Adabi Jirga from Shobra Chowk to Nowshera Press Club. The march was organised in connection with the International Mother Language Day, which is being marked all over the world on February 21.
Faqir Shah Faqir of the Gandhara Pashto Adabi Jirga, provincial president Shakil Waheedullah of Mazdoor Kissan Party, Nawaz Khattak of Malgari Wakilan, Latif Shah Shahid of Malgari Leekwalan led the march and spoke on the occasion. ....

That the latest Covid-19 cases had not been using the tracer app was quite typical to the rest of the country, says an expert who is calling for a new approach targeting high-risk areas.
