A coalition of youth organisations and some Nigerian students, on Thursday, made good their threat and staged a peaceful protest at the Maitama, Abuja Office of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, over the poor state of the primary healthcare system in the country.
The protesters carrying placards of various inscriptions called on the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to commence immediate implementation of the massive establishment and equipping of Primary Healthcare Centres across the country.
Leader of the coalition and President of Nigerian Youth Union (NYU), Comrade Chinonso Obasi, during the protest, presented the demands of the Nigerian youths encapsulated in a letter to the Chairman of NGF, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Executive Governor of Ekiti State. ....

Poor healthcare system: Youths, students mobilise for nationwide protest, issue 14-day ultimatum

A coalition of Nigerian youths and students from various tertiary institutions on Thursday issued a 14-day ultimatum for the Federal and State governments to take urgent steps to fix the nation’s poor healthcare system or face nationwide protest.
They have also warned the Federal Government against spending the taxpayers’ money on buying of COVID-19 vaccines, arguing that the billions earmarked for the purchase of the vaccines should be used to fix the healthcare sector.
National President of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Solomon Adodo, read the communique to newsmen in Abuja at the of the First Nigerian Youth/Student Leaders meeting on the state of Nigerian Health Sector, where a resolution to mobilize youths, students and civil society organisations for the nationwide protest was taken. ....

Nigerian youth union settles NANS factions

Nigerian Youth Union (NYU) has successfully intervened in the crisis that followed the National Delegates’ Conference of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) which led to the emergence of Sunday Asefon as NANS President.
NYU hosted the two factions in NANS Zone B, Jeremiah Friday Ohomah of Federal University of Petroleum Resource Effurun and Friday Offongekpe Etinyene of the University of Uyo, at the NYU National Secretariat Abuja, to possibly resolve the issues that might have arisen from the election.
NYU President, Comrade Chinonso Obasi, in a statement released in Abuja, on Thursday, confirmed that the meeting was successful as aggrieved parties agreed to suggestions that would herald peace and unity in NANS. ....
