CNN State of the Union With Candy Crowley January 19, 2014 14:06:00

No real evidence we can point to that this program has helped stop a terrorist attack. others will differ, but that s what his advisory board found. so therefore, there is collection of private data, what was thought to be private data, on almost every american for a program that hasn t turned up a terrorist. does that not seem and the president sort of chose to then put it in to private hands or someplace. where is that place? it can t be at target or at any of these places that end up being hacked in to. where is that place? let me just say one thing about the report. one of the failings of the report was not to have long conversations with the fbi. as a matter of fact, they had no personal relationship with the fbi in the conducting of the report. pretty hard to come to a conclusion. there was no impact. when you do an investigation, it is as important to have some clue line up with the next clue. and this program clearly has done that. and it has clearly had an ....

Leading to one more u.s. ambassador summoned to explain. european officials tell me that nsa surveillance in spain and france only included metadata, not the content of the calls. still, it is spying on heads of state still causing the greatest outrage. senior administration official goes on to tell me it does not mean the nsa was going rogue or operating out of bounds, and that part of the review the administration is conducting is to ensure that intelligence agencies are getting quote, effective guidance from policy makers. so an admission there from the administration they were not getting that effective guidance which seemed to allow this to go on without the president s knowledge. if you read this tough statement from dianne feinstein which i read, the chair of the senate intelligence committee, she says flatly with respect to nsa collection of intelligence, on leaders of u.s. allies, including france, spain, mexico and germany, let me state unequivocally, i am totally opposed. ....

Conducting. and a final question about the school. the high school. i know you ve swept it, and you say it s clean of bombs, no danger there. but you will provide extra security anyway. why? just as a precaution and we know there is an overwhelming sense of fear and anxiety with the number of cases such as ts we ve seen popping up around the nation. we want to do what we can to proactively address that, have a good presence, and really hope to be able to gain a dialog with the students about if they do hear these types of things, no matter how insignificant it is, to bring that information forward. it could be critical and crucial, not only in this case, but in what potentially cocome in the future if other people attempt such types of plans. captain eric carter, albany police department. thank you for joining us this morning. thank you. and in the next hour, we ll take a closer look at the claims by the suspect s mother, that a rare form of obsessive compulsive disorder has ....
