New York State Team ALBANY – New York lawmakers wrapped up their annual session at the state Capitol on Thursday after passing hundreds of bills that now await Gov. Andrew Cuomo's approval. All told, 892 bills were approved by both the Senate and Assembly from January 1 through June 10, including a measure legalizing recreational marijuana and a state budget that hiked taxes on the wealthy. Cuomo has already acted on more than 100 bills approved during the legislative session, but he'll take the rest of the year to get through the rest of the backlog. 13 hrs ago A fatal accident on the state Thruway Thursday afternoon caused traffic to be diverted onto Route 34 in Weedsport. According to a news release from state police, a crash involving a box truck and a tractor trailer occurred at about 12:45 p.m. in the town of Tyre in Seneca County.
