Customs had summoned Speaker’s assistant private secretary K Ayyappan for interrogation on Wednesday over the probe into dollar smuggling case. The opposition has condemned the move to interrupt the interrogation of the PA of the Speaker. “It’s unfortunate that the protection of legislative privileges is misused by Speaker @sreeramkrishnan to bypass or avoid due process of law to protect his PA. This is mere belittling the stature & dignity of the Legislature itself. ‘Is something rotten in the State of Denmark ?,” tweeted Congress MLA KC Joseph.

The demand was raised through a resolution passed unanimously in the state Assembly. The legislators belonging to the ruling CPM led LDF and opposition Congress led UDF vehemently opposed the farm laws during the special session of Assembly.   Even the lone BJP member O Rajagopal said that he agreed with the sentiments conveyed in the resolution. “We supported the spirit of the resolution despite having differences on certain issues pointed out in it,” he said at a press conference.

Congress MLA urges Kerala CM to exempt worship places from ban on New Year celebrations ANI | Updated: Dec 31, 2020 20:32 IST Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], December 31 (ANI): Congress MLA K C Joseph has written to KeralaChief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan requesting him to exempt worship places from the order of Kerala Disaster Management Authority (KDMA) regarding the ban on public New Year celebrations after 10 pm today. In the letter, Joseph said that the midnight prayer in churches on December 31 is a conventional practice followed by Christians, it is not a celebration but a prayer. There may be attempts to misinterpret disaster management authority s order and to disrupt midnight prayer in the churches, he stated.
