MSNBC Alex Witt Reports June 4, 2024 17:15:00

no recent so frank, give me your experience in the bureau. what is the likelihood, inside the mar-a-lago tipped off the fbi. obviously investigators consider such a source, credible, right? who might that be? i don t necessarily need names, i just mean the kind of person privy to that information who would be considered a trustworthy surfaced? y surfaced conjecture of course is dangerous but it is becoming clear of this new york times reporting is accurate, just out now read through it once with absolutely refer to quote unquote a witness who told the doj that look, you don t have everything. there is still more. so with that someone obviously with access, someone overhearing a discussion could even be someone on the staff. the new york times piece does refer to someone on trump s staff. i don t know that means, whether it is a hotel or personal staff or even official ....

Possessing classified material. and no action was taken. but during trump s tenure, congress pass a statute that actually stiffened the penalties for mishandling classified material. turning it into a felony with a maximum five year sentence. so there are a lot of possibilities here. that wouldn t be the only type of statute that would come into play. clint might be able to shed some light on this. but if some of this material, not the nuclear material, but we are learning that there was other classified material that was recovered, if some of that was that would be in a scif, and normally you can just walk out of a scif with that kind of material. you might have to for instance, conceal it to get out. so although this is conjecture, that s sort of ups the ante for the type of conduct trump would ve had to engage and to walk out with these sorts of materials. and that would be the type of conduct that would establish ....

Mar-a-lago but it is another angle with the justice department is doing as they dig deeper into what was going on in the final days of the trump administration. chuck what do you think? it s interesting. luke s reporting has been great. i read everything that he writes, but we don t know until we see the affidavits exactly what the basis for probable cause was. it s a similar discussion to the search warrant executed at mar-a-lago stephanie. the justice department through its agents develops probable cause which is presented in an affidavit to a federal judge and one case they got a search warrant for trump s home and in another case they get a search warrant and information to seize congressman perry s phone. why? we don t really know. conjecture i think what mr. broadwater s been talking about here is spot on. but when we see the affidavits and they will be unsealed at some point, we will have a much better sense of what the investigation is about and what ....

25 years with the fbi, they keep their head down, they work with federal prosecutors, they are not politicians, they don t talk about who they voted for or law around the watercooler. they are just trying to do their job, and if there s evidence of crime and a judge signed off on an affidavit, and you got yourself a search warrant. frank, you and i talked about the work that leads up to this, we talked about the work, once the work that leads up and the days following ahead? we are engaged in conjecture, and i definitely appreciation ken delaney and his admonition that we don t know exactly with this is about it. but whatever case it is about, first and foremost before they leave the property tonight, if they re still there or, not they are going to leave, whoever is in charge, if it s not trump because he s not there, it ll be some caretaker appointed, maybe a lawyer. a local lawyer mid come over ....
