NMSU managed three hits, all singles. BASEBALL: In Abilene, Texas, host Abilene Christian scored six first-inning runs and beat New Mexico State 8-7 Friday night in the Aggies’ delayed season opener. NMSU had COVID issues that prevented its scheduled opener last week at UNLV. Connor Laux had three hits in his debut for the Aggies, Josh Laukkanen took the loss in relief for NMSU, which had fought back to tie the game at 7 in the seventh.
