A group of Sudanese bar associations, civil society organisations, and individual lawyers have presented a memorandum to Gen Abdelfattah El Burhan, Commander-in-Chief of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and former chairman of the now dissolved Sovereignty Council, calling on him to respect the stipulations of the Constitutional Document, signed by the then military junta and the Forces for Freedom and Change in August 2019.

Coup leader Burhan is not a pariah like Bashir, nor is he an Islamist. But he has tacit backing of Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Civil disobedience actions and road blocks in protest against the military coup on October 25 continued for the fourth day yesterday. On Saturday, October 30, Sudanese will come in their hundreds of thousands to protest against the naked power grab by Sudan's generals, led by Abdul Fatah Al-Burhan, which saw them overthrow the country's civilian government on October 25.
