With the UC Santa Cruz campus entrance blocked by Palestine solidarity encampment demonstrators beginning Tuesday and continuing Wednesday, the striking academic and student workers with UAW Local 4811 have moved their picketing to the west entrance of campus, which remained open to motorists Wednesday.
At the base of the UC Santa Cruz campus Thursday, union student workers, researchers and postdocs participating in the stand-up strike organized by UAW Local 4811 occupy the area on one side of Coolidge Drive while those in the recently relocated Palestine solidarity encampment occupy the other.
The strike was organized by UAW Local 4811, representing about 48,000 academic researchers and teachers across the state and 2,400 at UCSC specifically.
