One week left to comment on Secret Cinema's Walthamstow plan | East London and West Essex Guardian Series

Low Hall Sports Ground
People have until Valentine’s Day to give their views on plans to hold immersive film screenings at a sports ground throughout the summer.
Events company Secret Cinema was last month granted a licence for screenings at Low Hall Sports Ground in Walthamstow, almost daily from July 5 until September 12 this year, despite objections.
The company now needs planning permission to install 142 temporary structures, including a 16m screen, with work at the ground in South Access Road due to start in mid-June and last from 8am to 8pm for three weeks.
Residents have until February 14 to give their views on the application and can read the full planning application on the council’s website here. ....

Last modified on Fri 22 Jan 2021 06.22 EST
Secret Cinema has defended proposals for an immersive Dirty Dancing event in east London, saying it will invest in local businesses after residents claimed it would be “hijacking” vital green space this summer.
The company, one of the biggest cinema experience brands in the world, was given a licence by Waltham Forest council to use Low Hall sports ground in Walthamstow for three months, despite more than 100 complaints.
Residents and campaigners say the event, which could run from mid-July to mid-September and is billed as a mix of “steamy dancing and dangerously catchy songs”, will bring noise pollution, a risk of Covid-19 transmissions and stop locals from using the playing fields for most of the summer. ....
