DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The city of Decatur is releasing new details about a city project helping fund a new daycare facility in Decatur's urban core.
The estimated costs to purchase and renovation of the former Wee Folk Childcare building have more than tripled.
The council voted unanimously Monday to name the block surrounding the Staley Museum "Staley Square" and the 1000 block of South Webster Street in honor of Jefferson and Booker Joyner.
The garden honors the memory of 17-year-old Mishyra Wheeler, along with the memory of all city youth touched by gun violence.
The grant funds are expected to be used primarily for roof replacements in Decatur's urban core. About 220 city residents have requested a roof replacement.
