The Corinne T. Smith Animal Center Board of Directors will hold a closed meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 27 at the Adams Street Community Center. Board member Travis Curry stated the following regarding the closed meeting, “We are so thankful so many are concerned about the Corinne T. Smith Animal Shelter and the well being of animals in our community. Because open meetings have become unproductive and volatile, we have determined that it is best to hold closed board meetings at this time as we strive to reconstruct the organization. Along with you, the board desires to make the CTSAS a productive and safe place for animals. The Animal Shelter is not under the open meetings rule as a non profit organization. We look forward to communicating in new, innovative ways that will better benefit the organization as a whole. Thank you for understanding.” ....
Julie Banks Smith, 51, of Early, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021. A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2021 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. The family has requested that masks be worn and social distancing be observed for everyone’s safety. Julie was born November 19, 1969 in Brownwood to John and Sandy Banks. She graduated as valedictorian from Blanket High School in 1987 and received an Associate degree from Cisco Junior college in computers. Julie spent the last 15 years working as the office manager of Longhorn Auto Sales for the best boss, Glen Smith. She was a very active mother throughout her daughters lives. She came to everything and anything they got involved in, ball games, music performances. She could always be found cheering for her daughters in their accomplishments. Julie enjoyed spending time in the garden with her flowers, collecting Pioneer Woman kitchenware, sitting on her parents porch drinking coffee ....
