Data shows more women experienced pandemic work loss By Steve Limtiaco More than 28,700 Guam residents lost work because of the pandemic, according to demographic information released this week by the Guam Department of Labor, which is managing the federally funded pandemic unemployment programs. As of March 15, the labor department paid more than $567.2 million in benefits to those applicants, including $280.2 million in Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, $253.2 million in Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation, and $33.8 million in Lost Wages Assistance. Most applicants for assistance, 12,418, reported they still were working, but with reduced hours, 9,450 applicants reported they were completely unemployed, and 6,334 reported they were furloughed.
