Rashunda Pitts has filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), claiming that her daughter suffered emotional trauma over a cotton-picking project her school assigned back in 2017.
A black parent is suing the Los Angeles Unified School District and Board of Education for a civil rights infringement after her daughter's school allegedly had children picking cotton to learn about life as a slave.
The cotton-picking project aimed to teach students about the 'real life experience' of slavery, according to the lawsuit.
