Columbus seeks volunteers to draw council districts

The city of Columbus is seeking applications from residents to fill a five-member commission that will draw districts for future council members, though voters citywide still will get to vote for each member.
Under the requirements of a city charter amendment passed overwhelmingly by voters in 2018, Columbus residents can apply to be considered for appointment to the Council Residential Districting Commission. The city will take applications beginning Tuesday and until Jan. 21 from registered voters, said Councilman Emmanuel Remy.
How to apply for the commission
Residents can apply by going to https://www.columbus.gov/council/neighborhood-districting-commission/application/, filling out an application form and answering some eligibility and interest questions. Applicants have the option of including a resume.
