Officials with the Killeen Parks Master Plan Workgroup will be holding a meeting next week at a Killeen park to discuss further improvements to the cityâs recreational spaces.
The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Lions Club Park Senior Center, 1700 E Stan Schlueter Loop. The meeting is open to the public.
City Councilmember Michael Boyd said Thursday the workgroup, which Boyd is a part of, will review comments on draft technical memorandums and discuss any necessary changes.
The workgroup is made up of representatives of various citizen boards to include Recreational Services, Youth Advisory Committee, Planning & Zoning as well as stakeholders including Fort Hood, Killeen Chamber of Commerce and Texas A&M-Central Texas amongst others.
The Killeen City Council discussed a possible contract with an Austin law firm to provide redistricting services during a workshop meeting Tuesday.
Council members heard a presentation from City Manager Kent Cagle regarding an Interlocal Cooperation contract with Bickerstaff Heath Delgado Acosta, a law firm in Austin. Itâs estimated to cost the city $27,190, should officials agree to sign.
A vote on the resolution was postponed last week so that some council members could gain a better understanding of why the services were needed before moving forward.
Bickerstaff would determine if Killeenâs voting districts are unbalanced during an initial assessment. If it is determined the districts need to be redrawn, the law firm will work with the city to determine a redistricting process to redraw the lines so they are in compliance with the law.
