The death toll is up to 45, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The number could be higher – the reporting is a few days behind as officials work to confirm deaths as COVID-related. According to the department’s data all five of the people added Wednesday died last month. The department has not yet verified any COVID-related deaths in the county since Dec. 31. Warren County Coroner Melissa Zydonik reported 50 COVID-related deaths, as of Wednesday. The total number of cases stood at 1,661 on Wednesday more than 4 percent of the county’s population had been infected. ....
editorial@timesobserver.com COVID-19 related deaths have climbed sharply since Christmas Eve. “At this time I have had 42 reported COVID-19-related deaths,” Warren County Coroner Melissa Zydonik said Wednesday. “From the 24th to yesterday I have had 14 reported.” Wednesday’s data from the Department of Health increased the death total by one to 26. That figure is about a week behind the numbers provided by Zydonik. There were also 35 new COVID-19 cases in Warren County announced on Wednesday. The department reported 1,460 total cases for the county, an increase of 35, with 1,211 of those being confirmed and 249 probable. There were 22 COVID patients at Warren General Hospital, two of them using ventilators, and five in intensive care, according to the department. ....
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has announced 76 new cases of COVID-19 in Warren County. The cases included in Tuesday’s data bring the county’s total to 1,223 cases since the start of the pandemic. That total includes 1,031 confirmed cases and 192 probable cases. The county’s reported death total per the Department of Health also increased from 15 to 19. Warren County Coroner Melissa Zydonik previously told the Times Observer there had been 21 COVID-19-related fatalities and the Department of Health indicated it would take about a week for its data to catch up. A total of 18 patients remain hospitalized at Warren General on Tuesday, up from 17 on Monday but down from 24 on Sunday. ....
bferry@timesobserver.com There were 68 new cases of COVID-19 in Warren County on Thursday, the second-highest daily total yet. The Pennsylvania Department of Health announced that there have been 956 cases in the county so far, with 778 confirmed and 178 probable. There were 52 new probable cases among the 68 new cases. Many of the new cases seem to be in the Youngsville zip code. There were a total of 40 new cases in Youngsville on Thursday – one confirmed and 39 probable. Elsewhere, there were 13 new cases in the Warren zip – seven confirmed and six probable, four in Russell, two in Sheffield, and one each in Columbus and Sugar Grove. ....
