Voter registration deadline approaches
Friday, March 12 will be the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the April 6 Board of Education and Municipality General Election, Pottawatomie County Election Board Secretary Jeannie Stover said.
Stover said that persons who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 17 ½ years old are eligible to apply for voter registration. However, you must be at least 18 years old to vote.
Applications must be received by the county election board or postmarked no later than midnight, March 12. Applications postmarked after that time will be accepted, but will not be processed until after the April 6 election. ....

Tuesday's Election: Maud school district to vote on $715,000 bond issue

Voters in the Maud Public School (MPS) district will vote on a $715,000 bond election Tuesday, March 2. If passed, funds will be used to build a new safe room for the district.
According to Pott. County Election Board Secretary Jeannie Stover, early voting is available from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 25-26, and polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 2.
Maud Superintendent Cindy White said if passed, funds from the bond will be used to add a safe room to the gym and it will include new boys and girls locker rooms, a new weight room and a new classroom. ....

The candidate filing period for municipal office seats in Pottawatomie County towns wrapped up at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Nine filed declarations of candidacy the last day, bringing the total of candidates who filed for office to 20.
All of the open positions were filed for and many were unopposed and will fill those seats. In some of the municipalities, multiple candidates filed for the same seat so an election will be needed.
In Asher, four people filed for the three board of trustees positions. In Maud, two people filed for the Ward 2 seat. In McLoud, two people filed for the council member at large position. ....
