The College Board announced Thursday that Florida school districts should no longer offer Advanced Placement psychology, one of the most popular AP courses, the latest skirmish in its battle with the state’s Department of Education over how to teach race, gender, and sexual orientation.
DeSantis has accused the organization that administers AP testing of
Florida "effectively banned" Advanced Placement Psychology classes in the state due to the course's content on sexual orientation and gender identity, the College Board said Thursday.
The College Board said in a statement that it was "sad" to have taken this step but that its hands had been tied by the DeSantis administration, which "has effectively banned AP Psychology in the state by instructing Florida superintendents that teaching foundational content on sexual orientation and gender identity is illegal under state law."
