The winners of the Surry County Hometown Revitalization Grant have been selected from a bounty of applications submitted by businesses across Surry County.
A pair of groups from the Pilot Mountain area will be joining together Saturday to host a sock drive, with all socks collected to be distributed to the homeless and those with need in the area. Members from the Pilot Mountain VFW Auxiliary Post 9436 and Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church will be set up in the upper section of the Cousin Gary’s Restaurant parking lot from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m., accepting new socks of all sizes as well as monetary donations. March 22, 2021 A Siloam man was killed Monday morning when he was struck by a tractor-trailer on U.S. 52 South, near the Cook School Road exit. Marvin H. Bledsoe Sr., of Siloam, 85, had for some reason stopped his car on the shoulder of the southbound lane of U.S. 52, then wondered into oncoming traffic when he was struck, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol First Sgt.
