I think most people want to buy health insurance. the problem is it s been too expensive. one of the things the affordable care act did was to be able to afford to buy insurance coverage. then why, ken, why is it that if all of these people who, for example, who are on medicaid who couldn t afford health care before and now they have it, what is the rationale? what is the government or business rationale to rewrite this law? who is it actually helping and why would they do such a thing? well, we do have in texas a situation where there are not enough young people signing up for coverage. so, the bill does make it more affordable potentially for young people, but it looks to us like it s really going tahurt low-income, elderly people a lot more. also in texas, we did not do the medicaid expansion. we have millions of people who are too poor subsidies on the affordable care act that would be covered by medicaid unlike ....
Repeal obamacare than actually doing good. i find very little comfort in them saying they want to protect medicaid when they re talking about such big cuts to medicaid program. okay. before we go. then, mario, if it s not doing good, what does this do for health care companies? we ve seen insurance companies drop out, drop out of exchanges but they continue to make a ton of dough. does this help them? well, in a way it does. one of the provisions of this bill will create tax cuts for wealthy individuals earning over $200,000 a year and health care companies. so, we re going to give a half a trillion dollar tax cut to the health care industry and to wealthy americans and for that, 22 million americans are going to lose their insurance cov coverage. for every million people that lose insurance coverage, about 1,300 people will die. ....
