Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has welcomed the grant of Royal Assent for the HS2 Phase 2a Bill, which means that work can now start on the first northern leg of the new high speed railway. The Act of Parliament cements in law the Government’s commitment to the new route between Birmingham and Crewe. More than 5,000 construction jobs will be created on Phase 2a, the first new intercity railway being built in the North of England in more than 100 years. ....
