Doing the 'Worcester Loop': a cycle ride for all the family

NOW that the days are longer and the weather kinder, it seems timely to share my favourite family ride around Worcester. We have used it for years as it is easy to access, fun for the kids, beautiful and completely car-free. Remember to take some games for the play parks, a change of clothes for getting wet (at the Splash Pad or fountain), and some money to buy snacks on the way. A map of the ride can be found at bikeworcester.org.uk.

Read on for our article about the transformation of Worcester in the 1960s. In last week’s feature we took a look at life in the Blockhouse area of the city.  This week, we delve into another area of the city that saw huge changes during the mid-20th century, around St Clement’s and Tybridge Street in St John’s.  This is another part of the city that saw wholesale demolition in the 1960s, after housing conditions were shown to be very poor in many cases.
