A bill in Lansing is designed to ensure farmers who put in cover crops such as buckwheat, ryegrass, and oats in the fall donât face insurance penalties if bad weather halts planting. Aside from grazing, cover crops can store carbon pollution in the soil and reduce erosion and runoff.
