Disaster declaration extended, Council approves agreement with EDC

The Plainview City Council voted to purchase new equipment for the city, renewed the city’s contract with the Plainview/Hale County Economic Development Corporation and extended the latest disaster declaration, among other items, during its latest open meeting earlier this month.
The Council also voted to extend the current COVID-19 disaster declaration to Jan. 7. It was noted that the governor’s office has not issued any adoptable changes to the state order so no changes were made to the local order.
The extension of the declaration was approved with a 5-1 vote. Councilman Evan Weiss voted against. Councilmembers Patra Moreno and Norma Juarez were absent. ....
