SUDBURY Greater Sudbury will move into the red-control COVID framework on Monday, the province announced Friday afternoon. The lockdown in North Bay/Parry Sound will also end Monday, when the area will also move into the red zone. And the Timiskaming Health Unit is moving to orange after a recent increase in cases. From the period of Feb. 23 to March 2, case rates in North Bay Parry Sound District have decreased by 84.6 per cent to 3.1 cases per 100,000 people and the number of hospitalizations has shrunk from 1 to 0, the province said in a news release. Greater Sudbury had been in the orange designation, but a recent surge in cases – including a record 32 new cases on Monday alone – prompted the move into the more restrictive designation. ....

Keith Campbell, known to many as the city s Sunset Man goes out each evening to snap photos of the sun before it sets. Every day we have a phenomenal sunset and everyone can enjoy that, said Campbell. With his trusty camera at his side, Campbell ventures out to different areas of the waterfront each and every evening for an hour to capture sunset snapshots. The outbreak at Extendicare Kapuskasing stabilized Tuesday, with no new cases beyond the 32 confirmed cases of COVID-19 among residents and 13 cases among employees. The Timmins and District Hospital sent some of its staff to help with the situation and will be working with Extendicare to conduct a thorough infection control assessment. Of the 16 COVID-19-related deaths to date in the Porcupine Health Unit area, seven are linked to the outbreak at Kapuskasing Extendicare. Requests for interviews from Extendicare, Timmins and District Hospital and the Porcupine Health Unit, were denied. But Mushkegowuk-James Bay MPP Guy Bourgouin said the town of 9,000 people is finding the outbreak at the facility concerning, where, he said, there are 49 residents. ....
