Firms can now claim up to £8,200 for hiring a new engineering apprentice

In the Budget, the Government doubled and extended the financial incentives available. Oxfordshire Advanced Skills (OAS) is a partnership between the UK Atomic Energy Authority and the Science and Technology Facilities Council based at Culham Science Centre. It has been training apprentices in science and engineering for more than 70 years. In the Chancellor’s plans, businesses will receive a bonus £3,000 per new apprentice hired until September 30, regardless of age. Villagers furious at flyover bridge plans to link with Didcot

Plans for a flyover bridge near a railway level crossing has made villagers furious. Appleford Parish Council wants to see changes to a new road which would link Didcot with the Culham Science Centre. Residents in Appleford are unhappy with the bridge that would overlook the village and one parish councillor said it will change the view from Wittenham Clumps forever. A survey conducted by the parish council showed that 90 per cent of villagers opposed the idea of a new road close to their community.
