CARLSBAD
The Carlsbad City Council met Tuesday and approved a zoning change so that 192 multifamily residential apartments can be built southwest of Palomar Airport Road and Palomar Oaks Way. The council also approved a tentative tract map and site plan for a nine-unit condominium project at 2690 Roosevelt St. The council discussed an appeal by Taylor Made and Callaway golf companies of the business license tax collector’s decisions that they had underpaid their taxes. The council agreed to grant part of the tax relief they requested by asking the collector to apply an apportionment formula to tax years ending in 2019 or later. The council also requested that adjustments be made to other businesses affected by the business license tax and penalties before Jan. 16, 2019. Staff was asked to bring back a study of the city’s business license tax ordinance and the apportionment formula.
