A woman has been left gobsmacked after being given £155,000 by a pawnbroker for a pair of diamond earrings and a Patek Philippe watch, which she thought were worth just £17,000.
Fran Sawyer, 52, from Beggarwood in Basingstoke, appeared on the first episode of ITV s Million Pound Pawn - a new three-part series that explores the lucrative industry of pawnbroking.
The debut show, which aired at 8pm, saw the divorcee explain to Dan Hatfield, owner of Sheffield s London Road Jewellers & Pawnbrokers, that she wished to sell her watch and earrings to help fund a life-changing operation for her disabled son, Alexander. ....

A devoted wife and mother has spoken of her searing grief after her husband died without warning on Christmas Day - aged just 29.
Dan and Hannah Greaves had enjoyed a wonderful morning opening presents and playing games with her twins Lily and Riley, 15 - who are his stepchildren - and their daughter Ella, three, before lunch at their home in Banbury, Oxfordshire .
