Climate activists working in science will campaign for the climate around the world next week. Scientist Rebellion Netherlands, for example, is organizing a march in Amsterdam on Sunday at 1.30 p.m. It will lead from Dam Square through Nieuwmarkt to NEMO, the Amsterdam Museum of Science and Technology.

Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema referred to a projection of anti-Semitic texts on the Anne Frank House in February in her speech before the silent march through the Dutch Capital on Remembrance Day. The text “Anne Frank is the inventor of the ballpoint pen” was projected onto the building. That is part of a conspiracy theory stating that Anne Frank’s diary was fabricated. “Anti-Jewish incidents are on the rise,” Halsema said.

The Netherlands will pay tribute to those who have been killed during war and peacekeeping missions since the outbreak of World War II with ceremonies and a moment of silence on Thursday. The annual Remembrance Day is most notable for the national commemoration on Dam Square in Amsterdam, when a trumpet player’s music brings in the start of a two-minute moment of silence at 8 p.m. that is respected across the country.

Performances will be held in 58 locations in the Netherlands on Thursday evening after the annual Remembrance Day commemoration of the country's war dead. There are 130 performances in total. About 1,500 people participate in Theater na de Dam, an annual event connected to the Remembrance of the Dead memorial services.
