Don Gummer Sculptures Join the Cat in the Hat on the Springfield Museums Grounds News provided by Share this article Constructing Poetry: Sculptural Work by Don Gummer, an exhibit that will take place both within the galleries and outside on the Springfield Museums grounds. Large-scale, abstract, three-dimensional sculptures by the internationally renowned artist Don Gummer will join the whimsical characters in the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden on the Museums grounds. Smaller sculptures, maquettes, and a painting will grace two galleries in the D Amour Museum of Fine Arts. New York City-based artist Don Gummer has garnered critical acclaim for his work since the late 1960s. This exhibit assembled exclusively for the Springfield Museums explores work from throughout Gummer s long and auspicious career and includes a 2021 wall relief sculpture that has never been seen by the public before. ....

Festival of Flowers returns to Springfield Museums Updated 5:24 AM; Today 5:24 AM Facebook Share It’s spring, people are getting vaccinated, and the Springfield Museums will present Festival of Flowers: Reflections after last year’s cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are incredibly excited to host the Festival of Flowers event once again,” said Director of Education Larissa M. Murray. “The annual celebration has always focused on welcoming spring, but this year it has taken on new meaning. We enjoy the warming days and the gardens waking up on the Quadrangle Green, but we also are filled with hope as more visitors begin to return to the museums and more and more people receive the vaccine.” ....
