But I can’t sugarcoat how I felt – and expressed to a colleague on WhatsApp – when I heard that Christopher Eccleston was returning to the worlds of Doctor Who, over a decade after leaving under a (well-documented) cloud. While his attitude to Who had definitely thawed over the years, it still felt unthinkable that he’d feel comfortable enough to come back (albeit in audio drama form), let alone headline a whole series of adventures.
