Local elections Tuesday include city offices and school board seats in Johnson and Wyandotte counties, as well as a sales tax to support public transit in Kansas City.
One of the candidates, who is also Wyandotte County’s sheriff, said electing anyone other than the incumbents “could have a devastating effect on our students, parents, district and staff.”
Mayor Tyrone Garner removed Rick Behrens, a longtime social justice advocate who spoke out against the actions of former police detective Roger Golubski, from the Law Enforcement Advisory Board. Garner appointed Behrens just a year ago.
