Villagers in Seaton say recent heavy rainfall has highlighted potential flooding and drainage problems with a development site in Low Seaton. The council is currently consulting on drainage at the proposed site, under application 2/2018/0493. If approved, the site would have a 100-home estate built behind the former British Legion building. When the development was first suggested, residents formed a group the Low Seaton anti-development group which opposed the development because of issues including flooding and drainage at the site. Now villagers are saying they are finding it difficult to respond to the latest consultation as they can not access the digital application on the planning portal.
A ‘pebble path of hope’ became ‘the heart of Seaton’ and a permanent fixture in the village at the weekend. Six-year-old Jude Hill, a pupil at Seaton Academy, started off a collection of stones in April, during his lockdown walks, to bring happiness to people. Jude and his sister Reiva Hill, two, left their stones and hoped that others would add to the collection, which they did in their hundreds. Assistant head of Seaton Academy, Wendy Stuart, asked for ideas on how to preserve the path as a symbol of hope, somewhere centrally. Soon offers of help and suggestions for making the stone symbol a permanent fixture came in from Danny Horsley, Celia Tibble, Billy Walker, and Paul Heron (Kipper).
