Hunter 08/17/22 The Iowa City Council has indefinitely tabled their decision on whether or not to remove a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission voted last Thursday to suspend Amel Ali as chair. Ali remains on the commission and the Iowa City Council will discuss her potential removal at its next meeting. Another commissioner resigned for health and personal reasons.
Ali will no longer hold the powers of chair, but will retain title and seat on the commission. Vice Chair Chastity Dillard will take on those powers.
