JONESBORO - El Dorado played at the Ridge Pointe Country Club for the first time Tuesday in the 5A Girls State Golf Tournament. The Lady Wildcats failed to make a great first impression.

A year ago, El Dorado rode Hope Walthall’s record-setting 67 into second place in the 5A South Conference Tournament. The Lady Wildcats won’t have Walthall’s score this season, but Coach Chris Ezell is still excited about their chances in the conference tournament, which tees off Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Hot Springs Country Club.

MANILA - The Supreme Court (SC) has turned down a petition filed by a Taiwanese couple questioning their indictment for estafa filed by a firm they had invested in but with which they later had a falling out. In a 13-page decision uploaded online April 18, the SC's Second Division denied the petition filed by spouses Eric Wu and Daphny Chen and affirmed the Court of Appeals' resolution which in turn set aside the decision of the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC Branch 112 and 114) which had quashed the criminal charges.
