Alcohol sales set monthly record in December

Des Moines, Ia- The Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division reports liquor sales for December hit a record for a single month at 42-point-eight million dollars. Radio Iowa's Dar Danielson reports that is an increase of nearly 18-and-a-half percent (18.48) compared to December of 2019. The pandemic pushed the liquor sales for the last fiscal year that ended in June to a yearly record and an increase of eight-point-two percent compared to the previous fiscal year. The department reports sales continued to rise through December with the number of cases already sold in the new fiscal year up by nearly 19 percent (18.5). ....

November unemployment rate drops

Des Moines, Ia- The state’s unemployment rate took another drop in November.
Radio Iowa’s Dar Danielson reports that the November rate fell to three-point-six percent from the three-point-seven percent reported in October. That dropped follows what have been consistent drops in the weekly ongoing unemployment numbers.
Iowa Workforce Development says the slight drop comes as there are seasonal layoffs that are normal for this time of year. There were 57-thousand-900 unemployed in November a drop of two-thousand compared to October.
That is now well below the peak of 188-thousand unemployed in April as the COVID-19 outbreak hit. The national unemployment rate fell to six-point-seven percent in November. ....
