Sponsored by the Iowa Association of School Boards to celebrate the contributions of board members to Iowa public education, the ECSD board was honored for their hard work in maintaining their commitment to students, schools, and communities while facing challenges and making decisions they never could have anticipated when they were elected. This year’s theme of “School Boards: Leading Through Uncharted Waters” hit home after a year disrupted by a global pandemic.
EMMETSBURG GRADUATION 2021 EMMETSBURG GRADUATION 2021 After a year of unknowns and uncertainties, the seniors of Emmetsburg High School would graduate Sunday afternoon in a commencement ceremony held in the high school gymnasium. Led by Junior Class Marshals Dominique Biliran and Tyler Stokes, the seniors would take their seats among family and friends gathered all together for one of the first times in a long while. After enjoying a senior class video made by Mrs. Schany and Ms. Herrig, Taylor Steinkamp, Senior Class President and commencement’s Mistress of Ceremonies took the podium to welcome attendees and the Class of 2021. Among the speakers at this year’s ceremony were Salutatorians Cade Jacobson and Kady Traub, and Valedictorian Abbie Schany. The day would also include performances by the high school concert band, as well as “Seasons of Love” sung by the concert choir. EHS Principal Tracie Christensen, along with Darren Hanna, Superintendent, and Jane Hoyman, Board of Education President, would award diplomas.
