Fantastic at saving plastic

The Tare Shop was dubbed Halifax’s first fully zero-waste store when it opened in October 2018. Everything at its 5539 Cornwallis Street location–from rice to shampoo to spices–is available in bulk, with the option to purchase an upcycled container or bring your own.
The shop recently did a calculation of just how much waste it has kept out of the waste stream, and found that its Halifax location has diverted 16,798 cups and bottles, and 127,322 plastic bags from the waste stream since opening. Its Dartmouth store, which just opened this January, has already diverted 141 cups and 4,308 plastic bags.

The Goatbusters Are Hard-Working 'Kids' in Dartmouth

At Round the Bend Farm, there is a herd of goats that have a reputation for being hard workers. This landscaping crew is tasked with removing weeds and brush and leaving behind natural fertilizer. But to them, it doesn’t feel like work. The Goatbusters just eat. Where can I get a gig that pays me to eat?
Hannah Wylie and her partner, Tyler started the Goatbusters crew about two years ago. They have about 30 goats in their herd and they are rented out privately to eat unwanted vegetation in Dartmouth and Westport.

Today marks a new beginning for SouthCoast restaurants as Phase 3, Step 2 gets the green light in Massachusetts, ushering in more relaxed guidelines for the food industry. But is it enough?
The new guidelines sound exciting, but some local restaurants are still not thrilled and continue to worry about the future of their business.
Beginning today, restaurants will no longer have to adhere to a capacity limit and patrons will be allowed to sit at the bar – but there’s a catch. All restaurants must continue to maintain a distance of six feet between tables and bar seats. The time limit for indoor dining is still in place, allowing guests no more than 90 minutes, and there can only be six people to a table. ....
