New Bedford Woman Killed in Dartmouth Pedestrian Crash A New Bedford woman is dead after being struck by a car on Rt. 6 in Dartmouth on New Year s Eve. On Thursday, December 31, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Dartmouth police and other emergency personnel responded to the area of 597 State Road after receiving several calls that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Officers confirmed that a female pedestrian, identified as 56-year-old Wendy Tolley of New Bedford, had been struck by a 2006 Toyota Prius being operated by a 24-year-old Dartmouth woman, the Dartmouth Police Department said in a media release. Emergency care was rendered to Tolley, but she died as a result of her injuries, the department said. A part of State Road was closed for several hours while officers investigated the crash.
