Four orange objects spotted sunday, thought to be a compelling lead. those four objects are not from the plane. they are fishing junk. this morning an australian vessel, the ocean shield, will make its way to the search area, carrying a high-tech u.s. navy pinger detector. it can scan under water for the plane s data boxes. cnn s paula newton joins us now, live in perth, australia. certainly, those four pieces, the pieces of orange debris, thought to be a good lead, now an empty lead. searchers frustrated here. reporter: absolutely. and you know when we talk to them when they get off those planes, christine, they are excited when they see those objects. they look different than other things over the last several days and they think, yes, maybe, finally, this is it. still, the prime minister of australia trying to put all of this in perspective today, saying, look, this search will be long, it will be extensive, and he wanted to make sure the world knew that he was ramping ....

High cost of streaming live data, especially video from the cockpit. but the real issue in this case was all the systems on board the aircraft already stopped transmitting. i think what the regulators will do after this is look at this and figure out how to foolproof those systems so that transponder can t just stop working, the data messaging system can t stop working so sort of pilot proof? right. equipment. the. i lot has to have some authority to turn off the electrical systems in case they overheat. there s a way you can put a small back up battery, embed that in some of these systems. you can install additional systems that do more to help us narrow the search area when something like this happens. how about a battery inside the data boxes that last more than 30 days. that doesn t seem like a high ....
Basically our system is a realtime monitoring system which is compared to the black box or anything else is proactive rather than reactive. our system tweets every five minutes and they can be programmed to come in at every one second, 15 second, every minute. basically what we do is look at the system on board the aircraft through various data but pull information from. and this information is processed and then sent to the ground. within seconds they re able to know if there is any system degradation where the aircraft is within they can track it on their screens. we also have a second to none graphic user interface, which if there is an event or problem in the aircraft, mechanical, electrical, whatever, and if one of the data boxes picks it up, our system will be able to show it on the ground as if whatever ....
