Louisville man dead after collision Two 18-wheelers collided at the intersection of US Highway 1 and SR 296 in the early morning hours Monday, April 19, leaving one individual dead. This man had to be extricated from his vehicle. Louisville Fire Chief James Davis said it took about 15 to 20 minutes to complete the extrication once the equipment was in place. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to AUMC in Augusta, Davis added. It appeared one truck was traveling on US Highway 1 and the other on SR 296 when they collided, splitting one truck in half. Calls to Deputy Coroner Fay McGahee were unanswered as of press time Monday. Names of the two individuals were not released; however, Davis and Hillcrest Fire Chief Dave Beachy, also on the scene, said it was known the man who died was from Louisville. ....
James D. Knippenberg, a 29-year-old from Clinton who had gotten married just three months ago, was killed. His pregnant sister, Raquel (Knippenberg) Haralambou, was seriously injured and lost the twins she was carrying. And James Knippenberg s wife, Brittany, was also seriously injured. The crash happened Saturday in northern Florida. James D. Knippenberg, a Lake High School graduate originally from the Hartville area, and his wife, Brittany Dunmire Knippenberg, 32, were in Jacksonville for a visit. The crash occurred when a 31-year-old St. Augustine, Fla., man who the Florida Highway Patrol said was driving the wrong direction on state Route 207 in St. Johns County, collided head-on with vehicle carrying James, Raquel and others. ....
