Mequon Firefighter Josh Lipp was off-duty when he stopped to help at the scene of a crash on I-894 and National two days before Christmas. He and a woman, Xuan Nguyen Rollmann, were struck by a vehicle, and Rollmann did not survive her injuries.

The Ozaukee County fire departments bare-boned approach requires a change, study says Eddie Morales, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel © Scott Ash/Now News Group The Thiensville Fire Department participates in the annual Family Fun Before the Fourth parade on Saturday, June 27, 2020. With an increase in service calls and a dwindling number of emergency responders, the findings of a countywide fire department study could result in a rejuvenated collaborative effort among Ozaukee County municipalities to boost fire department resources. The seven-month, $23,500 study conducted by the Wisconsin Policy Forum was paid for by the municipalities whose departments were considered. Nine total departments were evaluated in the study.
