The win comes more than 40 years after BGA nearly won a Pulitzer for opening a fake bar with the Chicago Sun-Times to uncover corruption
The Better Government Association has won a Pulitzer Prize for its investigative stories with The Chicago Tribune that exposed the failure of Chicago city officials to keep tenants safe from deadly fires in dangerous residential buildings.
“It helps the player to be named later,” said Peter Giangreco, a political strategist whose client, U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley, joined former U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan in passing up a run against Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
The changes include ending the privilege that has allowed former Council members-turned-lobbyists to work the floor during City Council meetings and a big increase in potential fines.
