Following the collapse of an unoccupied house into the Atlantic Ocean in Rodanthe early Tuesday morning, debris spread along 15 miles of beach and had filled 53 pickup truck loads as of Wednesday afternoon. An approximately quarter-mile of beach remains closed, from S. Holiday Boulevard to the north end of Ocean Drive in Rodanthe.
A family beach house collapsed into the ocean from the Outer Banks of North Carolina in the early hours of Tuesday, authorities said.
While leaders are still seeking more funding for beach nourishment projects, other approaches such as moving or demolishing homes are also being tried.
