As officers were clearing the highway. Chp says protestors threw an explosive at officers on the highway. In response. Police deployed gas toward the protestors. Right before that explosion. This is what it looked like as dozens of protestors stormed highway 24. They blocked northbound traffic. And someone set a small fire near a police car at one point. That was until police in riot gear made their way onto the highway and pushed protestors back. There are also reports of vandalism tonight from the protest.
