Successful trial of the NmCV-5 pentavalent vaccine suggests it could contribute to the goal of defeating epidemic meningitis by 2030.

A pentavalent vaccine against Neisseria meningitidis was shown to be safe and effective in a phase 3 trial conducted among children and young adults in Africa’s meningitis belt, researchers reported in The New England Journal of Medicine.

A gift from the O. Wayne Rollins Foundation will expand the Seavey Clinic model for academic internal medicine to sites at Emory University Hospital Midtown and 1525 Clifton Road, funding 14 additional Rollins Distinguished Clinicians.

Emory University continues to be ranked among the nation’s top universities for research funding from the National Institutes of Health, according to an independent ranking. The individual schools that make up Emory’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center all ranked in the top 20 in their categories, with two in the top 10.

Vikas P. Sukhatme will step down as dean of Emory School of Medicine and chief academic officer of Emory Healthcare in March 2023. He will remain at Emory as a full-time faculty member.
