Remains of WWII Veteran from Michigan return home nearly 80 years later
A World War II veteran from Flint, Staff Sgt. Max Thurston, was killed in combat against Germany in November 1944. He was 19 years old. Nearly 80 years later, Thurston's remains were fully accounted for and returned to his family. He was laid to rest on Oct. 12 in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
