More than 31 years later, Snohomish County Sheriff’s cold case unit says they have finally been able to identify a suspect in Koski’s murder.

A suspect in the killing of 17-year-old Michelle Koski in 1990 has been identified through the use of forensic genealogy, according to the sheriff's office.

Laverne Pearl Waisenen Stone, 97 (when asked, she would always say 59-1/2), passed away in her home of 75 years with her loved ones by her side. She was born in Duluth on March 5th, 1925, to John and Jennie Waisanen. Laverne graduated from Duluth Central in 1943. She was united in marriage to Eugene Stone on May 11th, 1946 in the first Duluth Methodist Church. Laverne started her secretarial career at an early age for Kemp Fishery.
