“I look forward with collaborating with everybody so we can work together and ensure this will continue to be a vibrant community,” Mogensen said.
“I think as a city we need to keep moving forward, and I think it’s going to be up to the Coastal Commission. I think we should go one step further and have a council member present at the meeting.” Councilwoman Debby Beck said.
The next steps will be for the city manager to hire a demographer, who will study the 2020 census and create a report on the city’s population including racial and ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic characteristics.
In the agenda recommendation, city staff said the sidewalk extension would enhance driver and pedestrian visibility, shorten the length of crosswalks to reduce pedestrian exposure and improve drainage and sewage.
